God has given Sonya a story to share. Since the age of 12, Sonya has shared her story of torture and violence to people who need to know that there is a God that loves them.
“Love? My idea of love was pain: a slap, a punch, a burn. I was stripped of every ounce of my humanness and forced to do things that a child should never even know exists. A boyfriend of my mother’s sexually tortured me for years as a small child. And once my mother found out, she blamed me and beat and tortured me as a way to erase me from this world. Many times she tried to kill me. My childhood was a constant barrage of ‘You are are a dirty girl’. ‘Nobody loves you.’ ‘Nobody wants you.’
“Everywhere I go, God brings people across my path that have been hurt. Their pain is real and they’ve lost hope. I have the answer. I know Jesus Christ. Standing before a group of broken people who are just like me and sharing my story, is the most extraordinary, beautiful gift. The idea that God would allow me the opportunities to share His story and mine, is humbling and powerful. How can I NOT share His love and forgiveness with other people?”
“My passion is seeing God change lives. But I will NOT sugar coat anything. Pain is pain. It’s ugly. It’s messy. When we are willing to get real and deal with our “crud”, God begins working in ways we can never imagine. There’s nothing sweeter and more fulfilling then seeing someone who is broken, be saved and set free by Jesus.”
Sonya continues to share her message of hope as she travels to churches, women’s conferences, retreats and festivals.
“I especially appreciate Sonya’s humor and warmth; she has a way of making people feel at ease right away. Sonya loves to laugh, and isn’t afraid to poke fun at herself. With humor, authenticity, and passion, she helps women “get real and deal” with their issues. Sonya will minister to those who have suffered any loss that left them with deep emotional pain. You will be lifted up and find hope in the Lord Jesus Christ as Sonya shares her personal journey from torture and betrayal to rescue and redemption!”
“I know what it feels like to be unwanted. I know what it feels like to be alone. I share my crud with the world so that others can know that they are NOT alone. My message is one of total darkness and total redemption. God loves people. They need to know that they are loved and that there is a way to forgiveness and LIFE. Lots of people have been hurt. Jesus gets it. He understands every hurt and wound and betrayal. God gave us everything so that we would know how much He loves us.”
“My ministry is ripping my heart wide open, time and time again to share my story, my hurt, my pain – and to share what Jesus did, how He rescued me, saved me, turned my life around and changed EVERYTHING. All of us are sinners who need a Savior. Jesus IS that Savior. He is the only way to a holy God. Jesus is the only truth. Jesus is the LIFE. In His perfect love, God provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him because He knew we couldn’t do it on our own. And instead of giving us what we deserve, God gave His Son Jesus, who died on a cross for all – to pay the debt that WE owed. People need to know that there is a HOPE. They need to know that God loves them. Is there ANYTHING else more important then that?”
