A “Sarah” Moment.

A “Sarah” Moment.

I’m about to have a “SARAH” moment.

“The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah exactly what he had promised.  She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age. This happened at just the time God had said it would. And Abraham named their son Isaac. Eight days after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded. Abraham was 100 years old when Isaac was born. And Sarah declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me. Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? Yet I have given Abraham a son in his old age!” Genesis 21:1-7

No. I’m NOT pregnant.

Since I was a young girl, my dream has been to make a difference in peoples lives and impact this world in a significant way. I can already hear the cackles of laughter now. Is that grandiose or what? It’s a ridiculous thought, I know. Who am I to think I…Sonya…could do ANYTHING significant? But nonetheless, it’s true. It’s written in a childhood journal. I wanted to change people’s lives, and make a difference.

From my unsaved sexually tortured 8 year old journal entry…

”I want to change the world! I’m going to help people with my music and make them laugh! I want to make a difference.”

So today, January 27th, 2015 I am about to have a “SARAH” moment. What has been one of the most gut-wrenching seasons in my life, God in his mysterious wonder, has been working, moving and growing me to this very moment for HIS glory. I am about to step out and share my story (His story) with the world. I am about to open my heart and sing songs of praise to Him. Everything I have ever dreamed of for ministry will happen today.

What man meant for evil, God will use for good. EVERY TIME. Count on it.

Do what Jesus tells you.

Don’t take matters into your own hands like Sarah did with Hagaar. Do exactly what He says. It will save you anguish and pain. Can you imagine what she felt knowing that her husband was in the tent having sex with another woman? Horrible.

WHEN you mess up…

Ask Jesus to forgive you then do what He says. God STILL kept His word despite their sin. Sin couldn’t stop Jesus from anything. However, it sure would’ve saved lots of pain for Sarah had she trusted the Lord. If you find yourself in Sarah’s position and you have a “Hagar” plan – STOP. Don’t do it. His way is always best.

Surround yourself with true Jesus followers…

People that push you towards all things Jesus and laugh and cry with you. There are many that will try to knock you down because of their own lack of faith. Flee from these people. They will even say (in Jesus’ name) that you are crazy for believing such grandiose things and that you couldn’t have possibly heard that from God. *If you don’t have any true Jesus people in your life, ask God to bring them to you – even just one. It makes all the difference. THAT is what the CHURH/body of Christ is all about or should be.

Don’t give up – Don’t punk out.

God is not on OUR timetable. This is one of those BIG FAITH issues for us puny humans. We don’t get to tell Him what to do.

ASK.

Asking Jesus to heal, restore, reveal, direct, provide, etc. is all over the bible. We must not demand but we can ASK. Don’t forget to ASK.

Celebrate when God does ANYTHING.

Let me say this again. We Christians STINK at this. Celebrate when God does ANYTHING. What a complete disappointment we must be for the Lord when we don’t praise Him, thank Him, hoot and holler about what He has just done in our lives.

Trust Him. He will always take care of it. Always.

With a long deep breath, I take His hand and I take my place on His platform that He designed for me for just this moment…

No one but God will know what this day means. No one but God will understand all that it took to get here. No one but God could have made this happen. And no one but God will matter in this room. I am celebrating the victory, knowing the journey hasn’t been one I would have chosen. And so the girl that they said “we don’t want you!” with my hand in the hand of Jesus, will put one foot in front of the other, one word after the other and cut myself wide open once again with the story of how Jesus Christ saved me and changed my life so that others can hear that truth and receive the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

“The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah (SONYA) exactly what he had promised. And Sarah (SONYA) declared, “God has brought me laughter. All who hear about this will laugh with me.”

Now I don’t know about you, but I’m bout’ to have some serious laughing, praising and hollering up in here. Who’s with me?

all we need is child like faith and a willingness to be used. Honestly that all God needs from us. I have been praying all day for that Sarah moment for you. Can’t wait to hear.

Fun to witness a God promise. He still amazes me. Even though he tells us what he will do. So glad he let’s us laugh and praise with the words “only You could do this”. Thanks for sharing your moment.

I continue to be amazed by our Lord. How he takes our greatest hurt and makes it for his Glory. I was very moved by your strength and peace that He gave you. Even tho I knew your story it was amazing to watch you turn it in to the story about His love and healing. You also are such an awesome speaker because you are real. Great job and I am one of the biggest cheerleaders for the team of “The Lord and Sonya”. Rick is next.
